Brow Lift vs. Facelift Procedure
Patients have quite a few options when it comes to restoring their youthful appearance, but many are unsure of exactly what each procedure entails. This includes quite a bit of confusion over the differences between facelifts and brow lifts and what each of them is designed to treat. If you have just now begun to explore your options for these procedures, then here is a closer look at the key differences between these two popular cosmetic treatments.
Aging Skin
The skin on our face and neck is often the first area to show real signs of aging. While there are ways to slow the signs of aging, most adults will develop fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin at some point in their life. These issues may take place for a variety of reasons including sun damage, fluctuations in weight, and even toxins in the air. Others are predisposed to these conditions simply due to their genetics. Regardless of the reasons, there are now more effective cosmetic treatments than ever to remove lines and wrinkles while toning skin.
Facelifts
The term ‘facelift’ is often used for any cosmetic procedure that takes place on or around the face. This is a common misconception, and facelifts are, in fact, only designed to remove wrinkles and sagging skin on the lower third of the face, as well as the neck. Exactly what will take place during a facelift will depend on the wishes of the patient. Some facelifts involve nothing more than slightly moving the outer layer of skin for a more uniform appearance and a well-defined jawline. Other patients desire a more comprehensive approach in which the soft tissue below the skin is altered as well.
Brow Lifts
Much like a facelift, exactly what takes place during a brow lift will be dependent on the needs of the patient, as well as the state of their skin. Unlike facelifts, however, a brow lift is performed to remove wrinkles and lines that are on the forehead and near the eyes. There are multiple types of brow lifts that can be performed depending on how much of a change the patient desires.
Which Is Right for Me?
During your initial consultation, Dr. Hu will speak with you in order to understand your own desires and then give you an idea of what kind of results you can expect. In general, brow lifts will benefit those with deeper creases on the forehead while a facelift can remove some wrinkles and excess skin around the mouth and neck. Both require the use of anesthesia and patients can expect a recovery time of at least 10 to 14 days.
