An arm lift is performed under general anesthesia. To begin, an incision extending from the armpit to the elbow is made along the back of the arm. The length of this incision will vary based on the amount of skin and tissue that needs to be removed.
After making the incision, Dr. Hu will remove excess skin and fat and then tighten the underlying tissues. Liposuction is sometimes used as well whenever a great deal of fat needs to be removed.
The final step involves trimming your remaining skin to form contours that are more pleasing before closing the incision with dissolvable sutures.
Patients with only a small amount of excess skin may qualify for a “mini”-brachioplasty, which utilizes a much smaller incision. Sometimes, the scar can be hidden entirely in the armpit region.
