Achieve a more attractive upper arm profile with an arm lift in Santa Clarita, CA
Loose, sagging skin under the arms is a common problem, as this area often does not respond well to firming and toning exercises. An arm lift performed by Dr. Howard Hu can provide patients in Santa Clarita, Valencia, and the surrounding areas of California with the look they desire.
You may seek an arm lift (brachioplasty) procedure to alleviate the loose, sagging appearance of your upper arms. Many factors such as age, weight fluctuations, and heredity can cause your upper arms to droop. Though exercise may tone your underlying arm muscles, you may have fat deposits, lack of skin elasticity, or weakened tissues that may be resistant to traditional weight-loss and body-toning methods.
Also known as brachioplasty, an arm lift procedure reduces the amount of skin that can hang from the upper arm, leading to a tighter, more toned appearance. It is an outpatient procedure that can be performed right here at Valencia Plastic Surgery.
The back of the arms is one of the hardest areas of the body to firm and tone. Many people are embarrassed by “arm flap” or sagging skin, even if they otherwise appear fit. Having an arm lift can eliminate sagging skin and give the arms a more sculpted appearance so that wearing sleeveless shirts is something you won’t have to avoid.

If you would like to alleviate the loose, sagging appearance of your upper arms, you may be a good candidate for an arm lift. Dr. Hu will provide you with full access to our before and after pictures of arm lift patients, which shows how removing and tightening excess skin can provide you with a more sculpted appearance.
Your individual results may be different than those shown in the pictures. However, on average our Santa Clarita patients have been very pleased with their arm lift results from Dr. Hu at Valencia Plastic Surgery.
An arm lift is performed under general anesthesia. To begin, an incision extending from the armpit to the elbow is made along the back of the arm. The length of this incision will vary based on the amount of skin and tissue that needs to be removed.
After making the incision, Dr. Hu will remove excess skin and fat and then tighten the underlying tissues. Liposuction is sometimes used as well whenever a great deal of fat needs to be removed.
The final step involves trimming your remaining skin to form contours that are more pleasing before closing the incision with dissolvable sutures.
Patients with only a small amount of excess skin may qualify for a “mini”-brachioplasty, which utilizes a much smaller incision. Sometimes, the scar can be hidden entirely in the armpit region.
